5 Stars!

This book is kind of short a little under 200 pages, it is YA appropriate for ages for 18 and up due to violence and is the first in a series of four. I loved this book.  I love mythology tales so this one was right up my alley.  Camille, or Cami, is headstrong and stubborn. She is told lies at almost every turn and instead of lying down and giving up; she thinks fast on her feet and overcomes.  Cami is hard-headed and I want to smack her upside the head sometimes because she refuses to let anyone advise her on what to do.  Which is good in some ways but she doesn’t know all of what’s going on and she goes into it thinking that everything is going work out how she thinks it should work out.  It’s a bit foolish and immature which is what the author was probably going for.  There’s something to be said for allowing someone to help you and knowing your limits.

Drake is awesome.  He is what I refer to as a gentleman. (I have yet to meet this mythological creature. HeHe)  He is respectful and attentive. Not selfish or self –centered at all.  He is very honest and believing in their society’s laws in the beginning.  He is willing to resist his attraction and even marry someone he doesn’t love to abide by their rules and make his family proud.

The storyline had a lot of things going on in it. It wasn’t simple at all. It had a lot of subtly in it with regards to the rules of their society.  The society are rigid and firm and it’s almost like a Romeo and Juliet retelling.  I think there a lot of intrigue in this book more than action. And while I am an action girl myself, I liked it.  I love internal struggle but this one didn’t really have that, Cami knew who she was as a person, she didn’t want to bend to their rules and restrictions.  The struggle wasn’t about action but about society and bucking the system for change.

I already read the other three because I liked this one so much.  Those reviews will come.
