I really liked this book. The story was different than a lot of others that I have read. This book is the first book in a series. It’s can be catagorized as a YA Paranormal. It runs a little on the small side at 261 pages.

This book is the author’s debut. And it was fabulous! The plot, the transitions, the dialogue and the action all came together to make the perfect storm. The action scenes were excellent in my opinion. The first book by an author is always fun because it sets the bar for anything that comes after it. And I have high hopes for this author. And did you see the cover? It’s lovely. I generally don’t pay attention to covers but this one really caught my eye. It seemed the overall theme of this book was fairness. Which I am secretly a huge believer in, so I dug it from the beginning.

Characters:
Nivian: She seemed a little naive for an ancient reaper. But her senes of right and wrong are solid and commanding in this book. She may be oblivious of the mens affection for her, but she is no slouch when it came time to fight. Her personality was curious and she gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. A different take on most Mc’s that I have read, which I enjoyed.

Kain: He was innocent and helpful. Always offering a hand when it is needed. He was quite humorous in his dealings with Nivi. He kinda just rolled with it. The Santa Claus conversation still lingers in my mind. You’ll see.

Favorite quotes:

From the small amount of time she had studied him, he seemed to be fully awake, noticing things around him while the rest of the world seemed determined to walk forward through life with their heads down, rushing forward to imaginary goals like hamsters on a wheel, not ever seeing or doing anything.

“Look, I have to go, but I’ll probably kill you tomorrow, Okay?” “Um, sure?” He knit his brows together. Whatever the proper response to something like that was, he didn’t know.

I will be reading the next one. When it comes out.
