VienedBlurb: It could be worse for Sylva Lark. She could be dead. A coma was nothing to that. Or her family moving across country for the treatment, leaving her with a big blue mark on her back.
She can handle it.
Mostly.
Except the mark glows and tingles, especially whenever transition helper Atticus Plot (Attic) is close by. She suspects he’s hiding something, and when she stumbles across a torn body bearing the same spiral marking as her own, that suspicion is confirmed.
After a few shaves with death, the truth finally comes out and the battles begin.
But not all her fights are external; her biggest one is the decision she has to make between doing the right thing for the world and giving up her beloved family for good.

Okay, this series has been in my TBR list for YEARS!  I originally read this book when it first came out. But when I looked for the rest in this series….*poof* I couldn’t find them anywhere.  So I shelved it.  But it always sat in the back of my mind, I would randomly check if the books were out only to met with disappointment when they weren’t available.  When I finally purchased the third book, I was so scared that the series wouldn’t be as good as I remembered that I refused to read it for a full year.

Now, here I am on my second go-round for this series and I am SO glad it doesn’t suck!  As a matter of fact, it does the opposite of suck.  It…..blows?  No, no, no, that isn’t right.  ::shakes head::

It fricking ROCKS!   Man, this author captured the emotions of a teenage girl on the cusp of adulthood so well.  Sylvia is mature for the most part but backslildes a few times.  She has trouble identifying her own feelings (we’ve all been there right?).  She is also stubborn (I love when they have a stubborn streak) and she has this humility about her that is quite impressive for one so young.

And Attic…….

::Swoon:: This man is so patient and understanding when it comes to her learning.  He allows her to fail without making her feel stupid or inadequate. He is sweet to her when she least deserves it, and he doesn’t go easy on her to ‘protect’ her but rather is harder on her because he cares so much. These traits are so attractive to me, you guys have no idea. He is a true partner in every sense of the word. ::sigh::  I loves him.

Favorite quote:

The images of my life in Portland rolled up in a tight ball and smashed like glass, riddling my insides with painful shards.

Go buy this book right now!!!!!!

This book counts towards my diverse reading since it has LGBTQA people in it.
