Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in which you make a list of ten to do with a certain topic.  This week’s topic is “Ten Books I Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed (less love, more love, complicated feelings, indifference, thought it was great in a genre until you became more well read in that genre etc.).”

Curly Carla’s Top Seven:

  1. Illumine (Illumine series) by Alivia Anders.  This one was a remembered favorite because of the love story, but on the re-read, it just didn’t make that much sense the second time around.
  2. Witches (Runes #6) by Ednah Walters. This one was another favorite of mine the first time through. There love was intense and they committed to it with everything they had.   I never forgot about this series (for three years I waited for the series to finish) and couldn’t wait to finish it. So when I re-read it I got confused and the story went off track for me.
  3. Obsidian (Lux series) by Jennifer L. Armentrout.  I loved it even more the second time around.  It still held my interest by the time I finished it.
  4. The Truth about Kadenburg by T.E. Ridener.  I loved this book even more the second time around.
  5. Veined by Anyta Sunday.  I loved this series even more the second time around than I did the first time.
  6. Reckless Magic by Rachel Higginson.  This series I have read about seven times now and it keeps getting better every time I read it.  There are so many nuances to this story.
  7. The Prince of Wolves by Quinn Loftis.  I’ve read this series at least three times now and while the love story felt a bit forced, I never got tired of it.  Great YA shifter romance.

Lenoreo’s Top Ten:

If I took the time to really think about this, I could probably come up with all sorts of examples (both ones I liked more, and ones I liked less) that were maybe a bigger change of heart.  But I’m going to be lazy and just pick the most recent ones I came across.  (though I totes agree with Curly, Reckless Magic belongs on my list too)

  1. Room For You by Beth Ehemann — This was one of those series that seriously enchanted me the first time, but on reread recently, it fell seriously flat for me.  🙁  See my review.
  2. Going Down in Flames by Chris Cannon — There were things that bothered me on the first read of this book, but on reread they just didn’t matter as much and the things I loved just made me love the book even more.  See my review.
  3. Inescapable & Intuition by Amy A. Bartol — This was one of those early paranormal series I read and loved, and I recently got back to it so I could complete it (though I still haven’t yet), and maybe it’s one of those in comparison to all I’ve read now, it pales?  But I just didn’t enjoy it QUITE as much.  Or else I’m just being grumpy Lenore, and the things that bother me bother me more than they normally would.  Still a series I really am enjoying, just not quite as much.  See my reviews here and here.
  4. Unmaking Hunter Kennedy by Anne Eliot — This one wasn’t quite as big a change, but the little thing that bothered me the first time through just didn’t as much on reread…  See my review.
  5. How I Fall by Anne Eliot — Another one that wasn’t a big change, but the things that bothered me the first time through just bothered me a bit more the second time through.  Which I found hilarious because I reread this and Unmaking Hunter Kennedy right behind each other, and I had opposite reactions.  See my review.
  6. Collide & Uprising by Shelly Crane — Finally got around to finishing this series, as it was one of those really early independent author series reads from when I first got my Kindle.  And on the second go round, it just didn’t wow me as much as the first time.  Part of the problem was that my kindle didn’t give me the updated version (Amazon sucks that ways sometimes), so the editing was atrocious, and my standards for that have obviously changed.  But I was also just not as entranced by the characters.  It did pick up by the time I got to the 3rd book.  See my reviews here and here.
  7. All I Want for Christmas by Jaci Burton — Another read that just didn’t suck me in as much the second time around.  See my review.
  8. The Avery Shaw Experiment by Kelly Oram — And this is one of my favourite reads of all time, and since it’s a 5 star read it’s kind of a cheat, b/c it can’t technically get better, but I enjoy it more and more every single time I read it.  And can I just squee for a moment because I get to meet this author in a month??  SQUEEEEE!!!!

As always, thank you so much for joining us and checking out our lists!!  What are some books you feel differently about now?  Please feel free to share your TTT’s and we’ll come take a look!!

  1. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Jennifer L. Armentrout’s books, but haven’t read them. Perhaps, someday! 🙂

    • I’ve only read 2 of her contemporary reads (though I enjoyed them both), and haven’t yet read any of her non-contemps, though I hear good things all the time. Someday I’ll get there too! 🙂

    • Yeah, I’m the same way, though I think I actually do have the first book…perhaps I need to read it if Curly gives it the rubber stamp of approval.
