Blurb:

Mercedes Thompson, aka Mercy, is a talented Volkswagen mechanic living in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. She also happens to be a walker, a magical being with the power to shift into a coyote at will. Mercy's next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she's fixing a bus for a vampire. This is the world of Mercy Thompson, one that looks a lot like ours but is populated by those things that go bump in the night. And Mercy's connection to those things is about to get her into some serious hot water...

My Review:

My sister Karissa told me about this book when we went to the library. She said it was good so I checked it out.

I generally don’t read books that don’t have at least a bit of romance in them.  Although shifter books are a bit of a weakness for me.  This one was a bit different though.  It only had a hint of romance and no actual kissing, touching or really any flirting. It’s all just hinted at.  And it worked really well in this book.  The rest of the story was interesting enough to balance out the lack of romance.  Lots of action and mystery thrown together with some pretty humorous situations.

Mercy must be the luckiest coyote shifter in the world! It’s like her super power.  And it was believable in this book.  Problem with the vampires? Bam, you have a certain immunity from them. Problem with the fae? Bam, you just happen to have a powerful fae mentor. Problem with the werewolves? Bam, you just happened to be raised by the strongest alpha in the country.  And it made this story both ridiculous yet entertaining.  So, so entertaining.

Now I’m not reading the rest of the series because its just more of the same. (I read the next five blurbs) I know, I know, its kinda cheating but I NEEDED to know if it was gonna progress at a faster pace than this one. And it doesn’t.  I have a patience issue with series and I just don’t want to spend the time it would take to go deeper in to this one.

I’m glad I read this one though.

I see this one mentioned whenever anyone asks about Urban Fantasy. I think the romance does eventually progress, but like over 10 books or something. Glad it entertained you!
