Blurb:

From New York Times Bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, comes the first book in a new, sexy duet.

How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:

Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.

Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check.

How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:

Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.

Check. Check. Check.

I should add—especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.

Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.

Especially when he’s mean to you.

Or so I thought.

Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.

That was sort of how it all started with Rush.

And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.

I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.

I wasn't supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.

As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting—and complicated.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

My Review:

Favorite Quotes:

I was fake repairing a car…this was a first. While I ignored my mother’s suggestion of taking Gia to breakfast, I decided to use the day to pretend to fix Gia’s car—the car I’d already fixed and never told her about. The car I’d repaired and then lost a bet to have a reason to do the repairs I’d already done.

“Do you believe in God?” My feelings on that were complex. I did my best to offer an explanation of how I saw things when it came to spirituality. “Yes. I do. Well, at least, I believe there’s something powerful that watches over all of us. But the only thing that’s certain to me is that we weren’t meant to know everything. Anyone who claims to understand exactly how this complex universe works is a fucking liar. Or they’re believing what they want to. We all just have to do our best with what knowledge we have and have a little bit of blind faith. We get signs every day that tell us whether we’re on the right path. People and opportunities are placed before us. You know that feeling you get when something feels truly right in life? Like all the stars finally aligned? That trust you feel that the universe has sent you exactly what you need—even if you didn’t realize you needed it? “Yes.” “Well, that to me is God.”

Oh my, I loved loved loved this story!

Of course I’m a fan of both of these authors so it was almost guaranteed I would.

Rush was the awesomest!  He was broody, hot and sweet. I especially loved how he was so conflicted with his feelings and made it clear that he was struggling. I think that went a long way towards their communication.  It was so mature and I find a man who can speak about his feelings to be incredibly sexy.

I’m not so sure how I feel about Gia. She seemed kinda lost throughout this story.  I did love how very understanding she was.  She didn’t let the petty things get in her head and was quick to call Rush out on his shit.  She had a very level head when it came to Rush’s inability to deal with his emotional baggage.  But at the same time she seemed like she had no direction in her own life.  Sure she had an idea but when it came to Rush she kinda let him steer the way things went, and it made her seem lost to me.

Great twist at the end though, can’t wait to read the next one. (Actually, I already did!)
