This book was picked entirely by its cover alone (yes, I am a cover judger) and to be honest I had no idea it was by Linda Zart. I had read Roomies and liked it well enough. This book really shocked me though. It took off running at the speed of light. At first I was taken a back by how quickly everything progressed. Once I found my rhythm, I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up till one in the morning finishing it. Pretty sure it’s considered a dystopian but I’m not that good with genres because I love to read it all.
Now, I may going way out on a limb here but I thought it had touches of a Snow White retelling. I may be off base but thats how I felt.
Honor is a magnetic character! I love her stubborness and skepticism when it came to being told she was a UDK and all the training that was expected of her. Forced is more like it. She isn’t afraid to stand up for herself or others much to her detriment. She has a very independant personality and she is strong-willed but this is almost a handicap because its predictable to the enemy making her vulnerable. The underlying theme of this book seems to be Hope. I love when it’s Hope. She is put in an impossible situation and she constantly pushes the boundaries and draws attention from the wrong people.
I was excited when I found out it had more than one POV. Until I got to Ryder’s section. I can’t stand him, I’m sorry but he sucks and I don’t think there is anyway he can be redeemed in my eyes. He just isn’t my cup of tea. Arrogant and self serving not to mention kinda creepy. ::shivers:: No thank you.
Christian was okay, his role in this book didn’t seem too important. I had written him off as a throw away character till the end. I suspect his role will be more prominent in the next one that I have already started. 🙂

I would absolutely recommend this book to Dystopian lovers, which happens to be one of my all time favorites.
