Synopsis:

My Review:
4.5 stars — yup, everything I was looking for in a book!
First we have Mitch, who is seriously a perfect hero for Lenore — a bit damaged, vulnerable, but seriously sexy. I guess I like the strong silent types. My heart broke for him and how alone he was in the beginning, and how apparent that became as he started to want to join the land of the living. I think I swooned when he ordered the sushi platter the night before to not look like a newbie. Him sitting alone in his apartment checking off a list, something about that just got to me. And sure, his instant obsession was a little uncomfortable at times, but it still fit with his character and came from a genuine place.
McKenzie was a great and spunky heroine. I loved how open she was with the people who loved her, and how quickly she welcomed Mitch into that inner circle. Normally it would have bothered me more how quickly she accepted him given her past, but in light of the circumstances I will allow it…:P (tongue firmly in cheek)
The secondary characters totally topped this novel off perfectly. Alec and Rachel were amazing friends, and I loved how close they all were and how integral they were to the story (true secondary characters, not just throwaways).
And then there’s Zeus. Oh man, that dog totally stole the show. If I swooned over Mitch, I definitely melted for Zeus as many times. They are such a package deal, and I loved seeing a Warrior Dog in action. I mean, I love dogs anyways, but Zeus was his own character tugging at my heartstrings.
I loved the amount of suspense and action in this book. I mean, seriously, they went through their fair share of trials and tribulations. I will say that I saw some of the end coming, but was totally surprised by a certain other character!! Nicely done Ms. Heywood, keeping me on my toes.
It’s been fun reading all of these Carolina Days books, but this one definitely tops out as my favourite! It just had everything working for it to make it a book I will definitely reread.
