Synopsis: To touch a Dark One is death.
To talk to an immortal is suicide.
Yet, I’ve been marked by both.
A Vampire.
And the King of the immortals.
My life is no longer my own.
And now I know the truth, my life was never mine to begin with.
It was theirs.
It’s always been theirs.

5 Stars!
This book was awesome. It’s an NA book so not appropriate for minors. Pretty sure it’s a standalone which is a bit disappointing because I was all set to get invested in this series and now I can’t find any other books! This book has all kinds of cool species in it. It’s got a vampire, a werewolf, a couple sirens, angels, half angels and humans. It’s really cool!
I tore through this book in a day, it’s probably one of the faster reads I’ve done this year. The heroine of this book isn’t really a hero. She is like a pawn and she doesn’t really know what’s going on. But the author writes it in this way where she doesn’t seem to the reader to be a pawn. I didn’t realize it till I started to reflect on the story. It’s really all about the immortals. And you don’t really know what’s going on until the very end. It had delicious suspense throughout. Yes, I said it was delicious and I stand by my wording.
The end got kind of complicated for me. When it got to the actual climax part I had to talk it out verbally to myself so I could get a better understanding of what was happening. I’ve had to do that before with other books but’s it pretty rare. Once I had it all straight in my head I was actually able to predict the end. Maybe I read it too fast?
I enjoyed the side story at the end. I swear there should be a second book but I can’t find it. If you guys know of it can you please tell me because I really need to know what happens with Cassius and Stephanie. But there doesn’t seem to be a book unless it’s not written yet. 🙁
I think for me my favorite character was Mason, the werewolf, he was vulnerable and he had a paternal instinct towards everyone in the home. It really made him shine for me. Alex was the comic relief which is funny coming from a siren. Those two are my favorite. Other than that the other characters were kinda stereotypical of a vampire and a half angel. Angry, possessive, passionate, strong alpha males. And I like how the author wrote the bond. It wasn’t insta-love and she made it very distinct in the book that it was purely physical. I really liked that twist.
The beginning when she was chosen stands out the most to me. Cause she handles her choosing in a very mature manner. She just went along for the ride not knowing what was expected of her, she took it all in stride and immediately took up the mantel and committed herself to their cause which I thought was very brave.
Go read this book! Like now.
Hard to believe but I have yet to read this author’s work
I just found out this book just released in september. No wonder I can’t find the second book!
