Synopsis: In a world divided by prejudice and hatred, only love can bridge the chasm.
Tensions are rising in the Gladium Province. The boundary between humans and Morgons has begun to blur. While the human aristocracy strives to maintain distance between their daughters and the dragon-hybrid race, fate has other plans.
As the daughter of the corporate king, Jessen Cade is duty-bound to honor her arranged marriage to a man she detests. Feeling trapped by family duty and a loveless future, she longs for more, straying to the Morgon side of the city.
Lucius Nightwing is the eldest son of the powerful Morgon clan, and the greatest enemy of Jessen’s father. When a bar-room brawl thrusts Jessen into his arms, his dragon roars to the surface, craving to sate his carnal hunger in the brown-eyed beauty. The beast in Lucius recognizes her as his own, even if the man refuses to admit the truth.

This is a NA novella, first book in the series. This is dragon shifter book. I’ve been on a shifter kick lately. Paranormal kick I guess you could call it. This book is cool because the dragons don’t actually shift. They look like humans but they have dragon wings. That’s the state that they reside in. The interesting thing is that the dragons can have humans as mates and not just other dragons. I liked that.
The main character,Jessen, she is ok. I felt like it was a Romeo and Juliet throwback. The way that her family is depicted in this is awesome. Truly awesome. They are the bad guys I guess, and she is doesn’t agree with their prejudice. I like those storylines. It’s kind of tropey because the dragon is the male and the human is a female so automatically she is portrayed as weaker and he is an alpha.
He does have a soft side. He is an artist so that aspect really tempered my dislike for the tropey alpha male. That gave him a vulnerability that was attractive to me. And the fact that he didn’t push on her so hard for the mating, it’s all voluntary. That was a nice little twist in the story. She had to agree to the mating, which was nice because it really put a sense of power in her hands that normally you don’t see in these kind of books. I really enjoyed this short story, I was kinda hoping it was a full length book. I’ll probably read the next one since it’s a series.
