Blurb:He's a player in more ways than one…
College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hookups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he'll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he's worth a second chance.
Now he's going to need to up his game…
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She's not a charity case, and she's not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He'll have to work for it. This time around, she'll be the one in the driver's seat, and she plans on driving him wild.
5 stars — well that was just a big ole bucket of stupid grins. Honestly, I spent at least half the book smiling like a goofball. I knew right from reading The Deal that I was going to want to know John Logan’s story, and so when it went on sale I snatched it up. And holy cow, was I ever not disappointed. I’m not even entirely sure what all made this such a stellar read for me, but I was sucked right in from the start and it honestly gave me all the good feels.
I think in the end it comes down to characters. And while I LOVED Grace, I can honestly say that I’m in love with Logan. He was just so…I don’t know. I mean, yeah, at the beginning he’s this screwed up player, but even then I was still charmed by him. Maybe it was his bouts of nervousness and insecurity. And the blushing! Oh my god the blushing. *swoon* But yeah, even when he was fumbling around at the beginning feeling guilt for misplaced feelings about Hannah, I still appreciated him. B/C you could feel the confusion in him, but you could see how he was enjoying Grace even at that time too. But once we got into the next semester when he was trying to get back in her good graces (har har)? Yup, I was a total goner. He was sweet, and a bit fumbly, and sexy as hell…. It just made for some great reading.
And Grace was such a perfect counterpart for him — so down to earth, but funny and adorable too. In the end I LOVED them together. They just gave me so many happy feels, I LOVE relationships like theirs.
And Logan’s backstory? Holy heartbreaking. The moment with Grace’s Dad had my heart in pieces. In the end it kind of wrapped up quicker than I would normally like, but I’ll give it a pass.
There were so many funny parts in this book too — from the Lorris bromance, to the red chaise lounge, it was everything I was wanting to read in this moment.
Like I said, I spent the majority of this book with a big goofy grin on my face, and I LOVE books like that. I’m not sure how I feel about Dean’s story being next…I’m kind of a Tucker fan myself. But I will definitely be following this series to the end.
Seriously, I can’t wait to get paid to I can read these books. They look so good.
They certainly were Lenore kind of books, that’s for sure…
looks like a good read =)
