Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in which you make a list of ten to do with a certain topic. This week’s topic is “Top Ten Books With X Setting (top ten books set near the beach, top ten book set in boarding school, top ten books set in England, etc).” Curly Carla says “I’m choosing dystopian/post-apocalyptic because that’s the only setting that I will have more than a few books in.”
Curly Carla’s Top Ten:
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. One of my all-time favorite books. It’s one that really got me into reading again as an adult.
- Love and Decay by Rachel Higginson. This series ya’ll. It’s so good! It’s written like it’s a TV series. With three seasons and about 12 episodes each. I’ve reread it three times. The first six episodes are free in a set. Check it out.
- Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti. This series is one I recently read and I have really liked it so far. Great action and love scenes.
- The Beautiful Dead by Daryl Banner. This book had a separate layer that added a bit of melancholy to it. It seemed to be a bit introspective. One of the reasons I loved it so much.
- Uglies by Scott Westerfield. This is one of my favorite books. I highly recommend it to every female out there.
- Red Rising by Peirce Brown. This book was phenomenal; I read it as part of last year’s reading challenge and was surprised it was his first book.
- Broken Skies by Theresa Kay. This book will always make a top ten list if I can squeeze it in there. Great series.
- Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I really liked the basis for this story. It was very interesting to think about as I read.
- Justice Buried by Hilary Thompson. This is definitely a diamond in the rough. I discovered this author in a writing group I’m a part of. This series is a good one. It’s free right now and it only has 44 reviews. Go grab it!
- Imaginations by Tara Brown. I love Tara Brown. She has many end names but this is the one I like best because she writes the most amazing storylines that really make you think.
Recently I’ve heard “Uglies” is such a good read and have been curious about “Delirium” for a long while now. Though I’ve read a couple dystopian novels (K.E. Ganshert’s “The Gifting” is a good one!), my main exposure to them has been at the movies, which is, fine by me. đŸ™‚
If I had to choose one I’d say Uglies had a bigger impact on me, because of the societies view on beautification in that book.
Good to know. That makes its impact all the more interesting. đŸ™‚
I love a few covers in this list! I will add them to my TRB.
My TTT.
I LOVED Uglies and Delirium. Great list.
Delirium was good! I loved how love was a sickness! đŸ™‚
Have to read Red Rising…
Great list!
Thanks! Red Rising was sooo goood!
Such a great list! I haven’t read most of them, but they all sound so interesting. I absolutely love books with a dystopian setting, I always find them so intriguing.
That is my all time favorite sub-genre!
I love The Hunger Games! I really liked the first Uglies book but wasn’t keen on the rest of the series.
