Blurb:Molly Zaworski hasn't caught the Christmas spirit this year, even though there is only one week until the holiday. She recently dumped her loser boyfriend and isn't looking forward to celebrating alone. Dragged into the company gift exchange by her best friend, Molly soon discovers her Secret Santa is being more naughty than nice this year. For the three days prior to the company party on Christmas Eve she receives the usual benign presents, but those aren't all. Someone is leaving her naughty gifts that would make even Santa blush.
Josh Bachman has been interested in Molly since she started working for his company six months ago. Now that she's free, he's ready to declare his feelings for the plus-sized beauty. Each day he leaves her a gift with a suggestive note, all designed to get her hot, bothered, and aching for more. He plans to ring in the New Year with Molly and he's not going to let anything stand in his way.
3.5 stars — This was a solid little erotica. I think I’ve actually read this before, but I forgot about it because it’s been so long. While it was only a novella, I found their relationship development fairly satisfying, and it had plenty of sexy times. And the sexy times were even pretty varied, from phone sex, to light bondage.
The whole bigger woman angle was pretty typical: Molly had an ex who made her feel even more self conscious about her weight; our hero, Josh, is ridiculously hot, so Molly thinks he’s going to reject her if he sees her without clothes; our hero doesn’t care about her weight at all, and obviously loves curves.
Both characters were pretty interesting, if a bit rote. But honestly, I don’t have high expectations for erotica in terms of depth, kwim? And there was story in between sexy times, so that is always a plus. I enjoyed seeing Molly interact with her friend Tanya, but in a strange twist, I have no desire to read Tanya’s story. She wasn’t as compelling for me I guess, and I wasn’t curious about…Victor? I can’t remember his name. I’m assuming the hero would be that guy. I liked that Josh was both dominant and sweet. I really did feel his attraction to Molly, and his desperation to have this overture work out into a relationship.
And it had a solid happy ending. Again, I don’t have as high expectations for my erotica novellas, so this one was satisfying for me…things that would bug me in a normal story often get a pass in erotica. And I loved the Christmas feel to the story, so if you’re looking for a spicy Christmas read, this one was pretty good.
It’s always nice when a novella (an erotica at that) has good character dimension.
