Blurb:When your world crashes down. When they all say you’re out. When your body is brokenI will rise. I will return. And I will be undefeated.
Nick Renshaw is the golden boy of British rugby. When a serious injury threatens his career, he starts to spiral downwards, a broken man.
Abandoned and betrayed by those closest to him, he fights to restart his life. Maybe there’s someone out there who can help him. Maybe he can find his way back toward the light. Maybe … not.
Dr. Anna Scott might be the one person who can help Nick, but she has her own secrets. And when Nick’s past comes back to haunt them both, the enigmatic doctor is more vulnerable than she seems.
Broken and betrayed, the struggle to survive seems intolerable. Who will give in, and who will rise, undefeated?
So I was trying to read other authors that are going to be at Book Bonanza and came across this little nugget. I’m so glad I have KU you guys, otherwise I would never have been able to afford this book.
It was fabulous! I’m not sure that I have ever read such a great male adult POV before. It was very deep and emotional. There was a huge amount of growth for both Anna and Nick. I love Nick, he is super sweet and dedicated to his craft. I know nothing about rugby, but Nick’s love of the game transferred to me. I found myself cheering him on even though I have no idea what any of it means! He is close with his family and has their support, even when he spirals out of control during the ‘dark times’ as I prefer to call them. I won’t go into that but rest assured he shows great courage and determination through it all. I love that he isn’t afraid to ask for help. It shows great maturity and I found it very attractive. No man is an island.
Anna was a great love interest and a solid character in her own right, even though I found her to be a bit self-centered when it came to their relationship. In that, I found her flawed and wanting, but even though I didn’t really relate to her, I still found her very real and honest in her actions.
They had such a long, hard journey together and I just loved every minute of it. Highly recommend this book.
Ooo! I’m going to download this one since it’s KU! I haven’t read these authors before. Not sure if I’ll get to it before BB.
Well now I wanna read it too!! Maybe after BB. Great review!
