I liked this book. It was cute and didn’t give me too much info dump. It was just what I was in the mood for. A M/M historical romance. Heavy on the romance.
Dare was compassionate and understanding even though Prince Darius treated him so terribly. He just seemed to accept his fate with as much grace as one in his position could. And while that seems like rolling over and giving up, to me it didn’t feel that way. It was almost like he refused to give in to the darkness that surrounded him. Even when he had no hope of ever becoming free. And I loved that about him.
He struggled with his feelings while simultaneously worrying if his cators would see through his farce. I can’t say I remember much about the love interest so that tells you enough about that character right there. The romance was a slow burn and it was cute if a bit teenager-ish. The talks they had, playing games with each other and opening themselves up to one another was adorable.
