My Review:

These characters were one dimensional and lacked depth.  Except maybe Raith.  He was my favorite really.  But I like the mysteriousness of him.  Hes an underdog, an outcast, and I dig when these characters strive in the face of adversity.  And he seemed to do that in this story. But it still wasn’t enough.

I also felt that there was too much telling and not enough showing. I’m really surprised this is a #1 best seller on amazon honestly.  Now, don’t get me wrong, this book wasn’t terrible.  But there were enough little things, like the lack of depth of character and the fact that we didn’t get to do deeper into Scarletts grief that made this book just mediocre for me.

Seriously, Scarlett is so consumed with grief but they almost stop talking about it halfway through this book. I get that Cade helps with it but it was such a big deal at the beginning and then it kinda just disappears and becomes more about her feelings for the boys.  There was no real closure with that I felt.

And just who is the real big bad in this book, it’s never really made clear, only hinted at.  I mean, yeah Cade’s mom is power hungry and only cares about his succession but she never goes full evil.  Just too many loose ends.

I don’t think I’ll be reading more into this series.
