Blurb:In 8 years, Marlon James will be one of the brightest rising stars in the music industry. Bristol Gray will be his tough, no-nonsense manager.
But when they first meet, she’s a college student finding her way in the world, and he’s an artist determined to make his way in it. From completely different worlds, all the things that should separate them only draw them closer.
It’s a beautiful beginning, but where will the story end?
FLOW is the prequel chronicling the week of magical days and nights that will haunt Grip & Bristol for years to come. GRIP is the full-length conclusion of their story.
Favorite Quotes:
It’s quiet for a few moments as we absorb each other’s perspectives. My mind feels stretched. As if someone, this man, took the edges of my thoughts and pulled them in new directions, to new proportions
“She used to give me a supplemental book list every school year. Books she said the schools wouldn’t teach. She said don’t wait for nobody to give you nothing. Even your education you have to take. If the one they offer you isn’t enough, make your own.”
I really liked this book, it was perfectly paced. The length was on point as well. The writing was intense and deeply thoughtful from beginning to end. I was instantely in love with the chemistry of Grip and Bristol. There convesations were sexy while also being thought provoking.
Grip is a unique character, I loved how he challenges Britol on her views and how he was willing to think about his answeres before just answering when she asked him something. He seemed to know just what to say to make her re-think her original perceptions. Actually, they both did that. They spoke frankly about race and it was glorious.
While it was clear a physical attraction was there, the intellectual chemistry was off the charts. Just….::sigh:: I love a smart man. One who likes to push the envelope a bit and isn’t afraid to work. I loved his humility and hard-working ethic. He was always available to offer help and didn;t mince words when something sounded like crap to him. I adore him.
Bristol seemed a bit cookie cutter to me. Just a little bit. Her issues were so old and deep it’s a wonder she was able to claw her way out and attempt to resolve her relationship with her brother. But you could see how much she idolized him when he was younger and wanteds to help him when she got older. She loved enough to risk it all and I thought she was very brave for that.
Great story.
Great review! Are you continuing on with this series? I hope so! I loved Grip. It was my favorite book of 2017.
