This was a solid follow up to the first book. And not at ALL what I was expecting. The evil stepsister takes a more prominent role in this one and I tried, you guys, really tried to find her angle. But it didn’t hit me what it was until the moment I found out!
Kat was even more ambitious in her want to change the laws, she seems a bit too forward thinking and wants change to happen very quickly without letting the kingdom absorb her ideas first. But I understand her stance. She gets a bit too uppity in this one and it bites her in the ass. Edward indulges her at times and tries to reel her in a bit in others. I admired the crap outta Edward for being there for Kat, even to his detriment. But I got a bit tired of her righteousness towards the end.
The ending was another surprise! Like, I had NO IDEA it was gonna go down like that! I was so excited for this plot twist, ohhing and ahhhing throughout the end.
I immediately got the next one after.
