First off, can I say how much I loved the relationship between Lester and the River?! I really enjoyed the differences the generational gap brought to the table. The flashbacks gave me all the feels. Makes me wanna visit my grandma. Or maybe I’ll write her a letter!
And the letters! OMG, they were so original and cute and romantic. And you can always look back on them if you are feeling nostalgic, not that you can’t with text messages but come on, the anticipation of waiting for a letter, the enjoyment of reading it and then thinking out a response? ::Sigh:: I miss letter writing.
Ok, on to the review, first thoughts: This one had a bit more drag out than I am used to. But it was a great romance with depth and meaning. Exactly what I am used to with this author. She is an all time favorite of mine and I try to gobble up all her books.
I think that Ash’s stubbornness was a bit of a turn off for me. I mean, I get it, you have pride and you are trying to do what is best for you and your sister, but sometimes bro, those things can coincide ya know? It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. He took too long deciding what he was going to do when it was very clear how he felt about the book store. And his sister was in agreement so it shouldn’t have been that hard of a decision.
The romance was a slow burn and cute, but not really what kept my interest. I think it was the way that River showed Ash about his grandfather and was there as a friend. It was very touching and sentimental. It’s been a while since I read a nice sweet romance like this and I enjoyed it.
