Our world is being judged and even they remain unaware.

Michelle, another young woman with an unexplainable gift, finds herself surrounded by the previously undiscovered werewolf society. Kept prisoner for the predictions that torment her, she meekly follows orders waiting for her opportunity to run. When her stepfather dies, she takes a chance and escapes.

After witnessing Blake, her captor, grow canines, she knows he will do anything to find her. She needs a place to hide and someone to listen to her predictions so her head doesn’t explode, but knows there’s nowhere she can hide forever, and no one who can protect her… unless she can find someone just like him.

Part of the fur wearing faction wants to use her, another part strives to keep her safe. The second book of the Judgement of the Six series will raise more questions about the purpose of these gifted few and Michelle will need to fight for answers. Will what she discovers be enough to help her keep those she loves safe from an emerging evil?

My Review:

ON REREAD:
4.5 stars — I think I enjoyed this one even more the second time through.  I’m not sure if it’s because I knew what to expect, or I was just in a great mood, but I was sucked into this one so fast.  As I said in my original review, I really connected with Michelle, and I loved her combination of vulnerable and strong, sweet and sassy.  She started off so fearful, but she has a super strong backbone.

The highlight for me is the way Jim and Emmitt brought the boys, Liam and Aden, out of their shells.  The way they played with them and teased them….it was just so heart melting.  Heck, I loved the way Jim and Emmitt interacted with each other, and even the exasperated way Nana Wini deals with them.  They had such a perfect family bond, and I was so glad that Michelle and her brother’s got to be a part of that, even if there’s still danger.

Heck, the humour got me every time…because I loved Grey and Carlos too…yup, it was just fun times.

After six years away from his pack, Emmitt realizes he has no idea what he wants from life. His parents want him to lead the pack, and the Elders expect him to further integrate his people into human society. His reluctance to take on the demanding responsibility of leadership has him dragging his feet to return home.

Finding his Mate changes everything. Michelle's shy and beautiful and on the run. She needs somewhere to stay and someone to take care of her. Suddenly, responsibility doesn't seem like such a burden to Emmitt. He'll do whatever it takes to earn her trust and keep her safe...even from one of his own kind.

My Review:

ON REREAD:
4 stars — So while I enjoyed Michelle’s book more the second time around, I was a bit more frustrated with Emmitt’s POV on reread.  I ran across the same problem of completely forgetting what Michelle was thinking at certain parts, and so I would have to flip back to (Mis)fortune to satisfy my curiosity, and that got tiring really quickly.  I didn’t have to do that, but I have an obsession with knowing everything.  My hubby will tell you.  He thinks it’s hilarious.

As with the first time I read it, I LOVED the extra bits of depth we got of Jim.  GAWD I hope his mate is the last girl….I really want that to happen.

So yeah.  Still loving it, just was a bit more distracted reading this one the second go round.
