Blurb:

Helicopter pilot Taylor Blankenship’s time schedule is maxed out. Between his job, his one-hundred and fifty pound slobbering mess of a dog, and his matchmaking grandmother, he has no time for anyone or anything-especially a woman. If only there were a way to get Grams to back down.

The job of New York City dog walker suits Caitlin Ramos perfectly while she preps for her CPA exam—steady, scheduled, and requiring very little human interaction; a huge seller since she’s still on the mend from a toxic relationship. Men suck. Especially her bossy hot client with the Saint Bernard that thinks it’s a lap dog. No way will she go for his plan to pretend they’re engaged to get his grandmother off his case. Down, boy.

Offered a bargain she can’t refuse, Caitlin finds herself playing the part of fiancée to Taylor. Fortunately, it’s only for three days. All she has to do is fake a relationship with Mr. Bossy Pants in front of his entire family, survive a fierce game of truth or dare with an unscrupulous pair of octogenarians, endure a one-on-one round of Twister with Taylor, and not lose her heart to a guy who turns out to be a lot more than she’d bargained for.

My Review:

I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

4.5 stars — This one was so cute, and exactly the kind of romance I was needing for this winter day!  I laughed a lot, and felt a lot, and really enjoyed both the main characters as well as the cast of friends and family backing them up.

I probably warmed up to Caitlin a little more slowly than Taylor, only because she was holding on to so much pain, and doing exactly what her friend said: punishing herself for making a mistake.  It was hard to see the aftermath of someone who had been beaten down and emotionally abused, someone afraid to trust their instincts.  I loved watching her blossom, not only under Taylor’s attention, but the attention of his whole family.  It was very gratifying.  I loved that we saw these moments of strength, where you knew she was going to be okay if she could just get over that last hump.

Taylor was such a different hero for me…and yet not.  He was just so positive, and kind of carefree.  And maybe a bit shortsighted on how to change his life so that relationships were possible….basically he was stuck in a rut and didn’t know it.  I loved how happy and lighthearted he was…I loved his relationship with his family — it just made your heart swell.  I loved that he was kind of lost and uncertain about these new feelings, but it didn’t mean he wasn’t going to pursue it.

And they were so great together.  I definitely felt their chemistry, both friendship and more.

And as I said at the beginning — the secondary cast was definitely a huge part of my enjoyment of this book.  Taylor’s family was hilarious and heartwarming.  I loved the way they teased one another, but you could genuinely feel the love underneath.  And Beauregard was such a sweet dog, I loved what he brought to the story.  And I enjoyed the glimpses of Caitlin’s best friends, and even Taylor’s friendship with Will.

So yeah.  Just exactly what i was looking for — a sweet, lighthearted romance with just enough to tug on the heartstrings.
