Blurb:I knew I’d ruffle feathers, but the day I walked into Rockport High, I had no idea the cheap shots that were to follow.
You see, the Ballers and I have a history. They play basketball. I play basketball. But they hate that I play basketball as good as them. And the only thing they hate more than that, is me.
That’s right. I’m a girl, and I. Can. Play. Make no mistake about it.
The Ballers can do their worst, but I will make it onto the RHS boys’ team. This is my last resort to make a name for myself, and I can’t let them interfere—even if the so-called kings of the school have declared war against me.
Game On is a reverse harem high school bully romance novel.
I’m wasn’t sure about this one at first because the herione seemed to be letting other people get in the way of her goals. I was so rooting for her to just play hard and show them how good she was without any romance clouding up the plot but let’s be real, the RH is what pushes this story from good to great. Tessa is one badass mofo. She doesn’t let the fact that it’s an all boy team, or that her parents are getting a divorce. Which, as a teenager whose parents got divorced in HS let me tell, that shit will mess with your mind something awful. She has determination, maturity, focus and a spine of steel to deal with the boys who feel threatened by her talent. Her attraction didn’t shift her focus from what she really wanted, another great attribute.
I’m was having a hard time trusting the boys though. I’m very particular about the bully romances I read and enjoy. They hadn’t done anything to unredeemable but the potential was there and they were walking the line on it. It got pretty close for awhile whether I wanted them to succeed in becoming her harem or not. They were so intimidated by her talent it was almost comical how they tried to thwart her success. I mean, she was living rent free in their brain for most of the book. Eventually, they begrudingly accepted that she had talent but that didn’t stop them from using their considerable power and influence in keeping her from some getting any play on the court. I felt they were petty and immature throughout this one but was willing to give them a try in the next book to see if they redeemed themselves but it was a close call.
I can’t decide from your review if I want to read this one or not… Is it more Fallen Crest or more Brayshaw?
