Blurb:

Sibyl Blackthorne isn't afraid of anything--except maybe being sold into marriage to a man she doesn't love. A man she's never even met. A man who, by reputation, is one of Scotland's cruelest lairds in over a century.
But what choice does she have, with her father dead and her uncle now married to his brother's widow, putting him in charge of not only the Blackthorne fortune, but Sibyl's future as well?
Then her betrothed turns out to actually be far worse than his reputation, so headstrong Sibyl decides life as a peasant, or even death, would be preferable to a future with such a despicable man, and makes plans to run away.
On an organized hunt for wolves--or, as the Scots call them, wulvers--Sybil escapes her fiancé's clutches, only to find she's run into something far more untamed and dangerous in the middle of the woods.
When a big, brawny, long-haired man, who only speaks to her in Gaelic and calls himself Raife, simply picks her up and carries her off with him into the Scottish wild, Sibyl knows she's in trouble.
When he takes her to a place no human has ever been, she knows she's gone over the edge.
And when he, at last, marks her as his own, she discovers that only one wild heart can claim another.
Note To Readers: This is the extended version with over 10K words of new material and a BONUS epilogue and preview of the SEQUEL.

My Review:

Raife is the perfect mix of possessive alpha wolf yet respectful man.  He doesn’t treat her extra special because of his feelings for her, he treats her equally like he would his other pack members.  I really liked how chivalrous he was without being domineering.  He showed a lot of strength in his resistance to the attraction to her as well as a being vulnerable to it.  Their relationship was a bit too slow for me but when you added in the historical part I was quite content for the slow build.  I love historical worlds, specifically Irish/English ones.

Sibyl was a progressive woman in a non-pregressive time.  But she was willing to do her duty and marry without love. Until an event showed her how cruel her soon to be husband was.  She put herself above her family obligations and made a run for it. And I say, WELL DONE!  Too many times in past historicals I’ve read, the woman just take what she is given and I’m so glad she wasn’t this type of character.  While she was a bit shy when it came to the wolf pack, understandably, she soon intrigrated herself into their world with her openness to learn and willingness to do work.

She was even able to befriend a pack member that wasn’t thrilled with her arrival and they had some dangerous side adventures.  I love that even though she put her life above her obligation, she wasn’t above putting herself in danger for others. The whole story was very well written. Not like most alpha shifter romances.
