Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 2098 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. These first few are going to be super easy, b/c when I first got my Kindle I went crazy with free books.
The Dummy Line (Jake Crosby #1) by Bobby Cole — It sounds okay, but again…not my goto genre.
Verdict: Goes
Mad Money (Madeline Carter #1) by Linda L. Richards — Yeah, not interested at all.
Verdict: Goes
Love Unrehearsed (Love #2) by Tina Reber — I have a feeling I won’t love the first one as much on reread, but I’ve always wanted to finally finish this duology, so definitely keeping.
Verdict: Stays
Forever Enchanted (Fairies of Rush #2) by Maggie Shayne — Now titled By Magic Enchanted. I nabbed the new cover because this is another duology I’ve wanted to finally finish, even though I’m worried it won’t live up on reread…so I’ll force Amazon to get me the latest version.
Verdict: Stays
Still Life with Brass Pole by Craig Machen — My initial thought was meh…then I saw some great reviews and almost changed my mind. But let’s be real, I ain’t going to get to that.
Verdict: Goes
Avoiding Space Madness by Leslie K. Ernest — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Pride’s Run (A Wolf’s Pride #1) by Cat Kalen — Ooooo, I was torn man. On first look I figured I’d just end up reading more recent books. But then I saw a few good reviews from friends. But honestly? I still probably won’t read it, so *sigh*.
Verdict: Goes
Regression (Infinion #1) by Kathy Bell — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Once a Witch (Witch #1) by Carolyn MacCullough — Eh….
Verdict: Goes
Darkfever (Fever #1) by Karen Marie Moning — My friend Sheila would murder me if I got rid of this one. đŸ˜›
Yay for decreasing TBRs!
I started doing this too, because of your posts! Mine will be posted next week.
