Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 2071 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Sex Lessons by Daniel Grant — Yeah, no, not really my thing.
Verdict: Goes
Bound by Blood (The Garner Witch #1) by P.A. Lupton — Meh…lost interest in the blurb. Not a good sign.
Verdict: Goes
Consume (Devoured #2) by Shelly Crane — I looked back at my review for book 1, and apparently enjoyed it…but since it doesn’t stand out in my mind, I have a feeling I’m never getting back to this. I’d rather read catch up on her other series. I also had the 3rd book, so I’mma ditch that now too.
Verdict: Goes
The Understorey (The Leaving #1) by Fisher Amelie — This one’s a) no longer available and b) part of a series that has only this book. Add to that that I tried to reread one of my FAVOURITE books by this author and the grammar was atrocious, and no way am I trying something else.
Verdict: Goes
The Glassheart Chronicles by Various Authors — This was a collection of short stories from a character in each of the author’s series. About the only one that interests me is Tiffany King’s, and I’m just not that compelled.
Verdict: Goes
The Witch of the Western Gate: Dragon’s Gift by P.K. Brent — a) it’s not buggyman…the blurb has already lost me. b) it has an average rating on Goodreads of 2.98. Consider me warned.
Verdict: Goes
Farsighted (Farsighted #1) by Emlyn Chand — Bummer. I will admit, I thought I might keep this one. I actually remember it, which is always a better sign you know? But then I saw a review from an actual blind person picking apart the stereotypes used, and nope…don’t need this in my life. I have the second book 2, so I’m getting rid of it as well.
Verdict: Goes
Ali’s Art by J.T. Harding — I have no idea why I thought I would enjoy this…it doesn’t appeal to me at ALL anymore.
Verdict: Goes
Discern (Discern Saga #1) by Samantha Shakespeare — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Veiled (Veiled #1) by S.B. Niccum — The writing of the blurb has me out already.
Woohoo! Way to purhe!
