Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 2032 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Next week I’m doing a big Harlequin purge, so it’s going to be a long and difficult one!

Long Hard Ride (Rough Riders #1) by Lorelei James — I’m sure I’m not the only one that went crazy with erotica/erotic romance books when they first got their Kindle…assuming you’re a romance reader that is. I never got around to this one, and I’m just not as interested anymore. I have other similar erotica that I already enjoy.

Verdict: Goes

What Nathan Wants (Omaha Contemporary Romance #2) by Ruth Ann Nordin — Oh no. Yeah, no. I even remember scrolling through my books and thinking why did I get this one?

Verdict: Goes

Just Right (Just Everyday Heroes: Day Shift #1) by Erin Nicholas — I’ve enjoyed books by this author, but I think I’d rather read newer ones and just let this one go.

Verdict: Goes

The Complete Mackenzies Collection (Mackenzie Family #1-4) by Linda Howard — So remember the whole RWA scandal from last year? Seems forever ago right? Well, at that time I found out that Ms. Howard is NOT a progressive (very white privilege), so I won’t be reading her anymore.

Verdict: Goes

Baby, I’m Yours (Southern Roads #0.5) by Stephanie Bond — 50 pages and a prequel to a series I don’t own? Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Fortune’s Deception (Fortune #1) by Karen Erickson — Not even available anymore, and zero interest.

Verdict: Goes

Rock Hard (Sinners on Tour #2) by Olivia Cunning — I remember reading SOMETHING in this series, but they’re all marked as to-read on Goodreads. I remember enjoying it though, hence why I seem to have bought more. So this one is staying until I have a chance to give it another try and see if it’s still me.

Verdict: Stays

Tainted Love by Louisa Trent — Eh, there are so many other books I’m more interested in.

Verdict: Goes

Tamed: The Barbarian King (Dark-Hearted Desert Men #2; The Royal House of Karedes #10) by Jennie Lucas — Oh god, even the title makes me cringe. I didn’t read a lot of the Sheikh romances, but it’s even harder now. I do know why I got this one though, I was reading the Karedes series. But that’s so long ago, I can’t imagine I’ll go back to it.

Verdict: Goes

Scandal: His Majesty’s Love-Child (Dark-Hearted Desert Men #4; The Royal House of Karedes #12) by Annie West — Yeah, same goes with this one.

Verdict: Goes
