Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 2008 books on it (it went up because I added library wishlist books). No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour #1) by Olivia Cunning — In the DTTH just before my Harlequin editions, I kept book 2 in this series because I remember reading one of them and really enjoying it, so I want to give it another chance. Same goes for this one.
Verdict: Stays
The Ultimate Choice by Lisa C. Hinsley — Interesting premise, but I’m definitely not seeing glowing reviews.
Verdict: Goes
Black Jack (Scoundrels #1) by Mari Carr — Now named Tempted…which is funny, b/c I feel tempted. I enjoy Mari Carr’s erotica. So do I keep because of her track record, or just go back to rereading faves? Ugh, I hate making decisions. Fine, I’ll be ruthless.
Verdict: Goes
White Knight (Scoundrels #2) by Mari Carr — Now named Captivated. Strangely, I’m less captivated by this sequel, so it definitely goes.
Verdict: Goes
Party Naked (Cocktales #1) by Mari Carr — Meh, not grabbing me.
Verdict: Goes
Burden of the Soul by Kate Grace — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
In Too Deep (America’s Bravest #1, Hidden Cove Firefighters #4.1) by Kathryn Shay — Super meh.
Verdict: Goes
Siren’s Song (Bandit Creek #2) by D.L. Snow — This blurb does not appeal to me at all! Huh.
Verdict: Goes
Sleeping Beauty by Elle Lothlorien — And another one that doesn’t appeal at all.
Verdict: Goes
The Frog Prince by Elle Lothlorien — Neither does this one. Though Amazon thinks I’ve read it, I don’t remember it at all. Either way, it’s going.
All of your posts recently inspired me to go through my Kindle and purge a bunch of books. It was freeing! Plus, now I feel inspired to read some of the ones hiding in the depth of it.
