Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1952 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Katie’s Hellion (Rhyn Trilogy #1) by Lizzy Ford — Meh. That blurb definitely doesn’t grab me.
Verdict: Goes
May Day (Murder-by-Month Mystery #1) by Jess Lourey — Series might now be called A Mira James Mystery. Cozies aren’t really my thing, and I think if I’m going to try it I’d rather pick one recommended to me.
Verdict: Goes
Six Moon Summer (Seasons of the Moon #1) by S.M. Reine — Eh…I could go either way. Which is not a strong enough reaction to keep.
Verdict: Goes
Predestined (Existence #2) by Abbi Glines — Apparently the last 25% of book 1 redeemed it for me, but 8+ years later I’m not sure it matters. I also remember really hating the name Dank, even if it was a nickname. So I’m going to abandon this series and say bye to this one and the last book (Ceaseless).
Verdict: Goes
Airel: The Awakening (The Airel Saga #1) by Aaron Patterson & Chris White — Neither the Goodreads nor the Amazon blurbs capture me…they actually kind of confuse me.
Verdict: Goes
Edge of Passion (Cloak Warriors #1) by Tina Folsom — Now titled Lover Uncloaked (Stealth Guardians #1). I reread the Scanguard Vampires series books I had a couple years ago (mostly to get Y and Z for my A to Z challenge), and they were still entertaining, but not wow. I can’t imagine I’ll want to pursue this spin off series…I’m not sure if I’ll even read past book 10 in Scanguards if I ever get back to it.
Verdict: Goes
Defiance (Defiance #1) by C.J. Redwine — You can see the cover trend that sucked me in. I saw some reviews that indicated the love interest is a controlling dick (possibly abusive), and yeah…just not in for that.
Verdict: Goes
Titan Magic (Titan Magic #1) by Jodi Lamm — Dude, that cover captures me for some reason, but I don’t even remotely remember one-clicking this book. I can’t tell if this book is a standalone or not — there are supposed to be 2 other books in the series, only one of which is published. It could be that they are just in the same world, but I’m not sure I want to risk getting invested only to have it never completed.
Verdict: Goes
Parallel (Travelers #1) by Claudia Lefeve — Interesting premise, but I’m not sure it’s grabbing me enough.
Verdict: Goes
Dead Radiance (Valkyrie #1) by T.G. Ayer — Is it bad that I write a book off when the blurb has a mistake? I mean, it just doesn’t set a good precedence. I mean, it also only sort of intrigued me, so…
Goes, goes, goes! Freedom!
