Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1929 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

The Selkie Spell (Seal Island Trilogy #1) by Sophie Moss — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins — I know I should let this one go. I’ve watched all the movies, so I can just bet I won’t get to it. But for some reason there’s still a tiny part of me listening to my friends tell me I need to read the book. So for now it stays.

Verdict: Stays

Uncontrollable (The Nature of Grace #2) by S.R. Johannes — I remember really enjoying book 1, so I think I need to finally finish this series…maybe this year. So definitely stays.

Verdict: Stays

In His Eyes Anthology by Various Authors — While I probably won’t read the whole thing, there are at least 2 series that I own that might have short stories in this one (including Nature of Grace above), so I’ll keep for now.

Verdict: Stays

Destiny Binds (Timber Wolves Trilogy #1) by Tammy Blackwell — I feel like I read this one, and I can’t figure out if I did or if it just reminds me of another one. Anyways, I don’t need more early YA paranormal series in my life.

Verdict: Goes

The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking #1) by Patrick Ness — Blurb still works for me, and I’m still hearing about it, so definitely keeping…maybe I’ll even read it this year.

Verdict: Stays

The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking #2) by Patrick Ness — Obviously this stays too.

Verdict: Stays

Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking #3) by Patrick Ness — And this one.

Verdict: Stays

My Temporary Life (My Temporary Life #1) by Martin Crosbie — Yeah no.

Verdict: Goes

Wanderlove (Wanderlove #1) by Belle Malory — Not interested enough.

Verdict: Goes
