Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1920 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Coffin Dodgers by Gary Marshall — Yeah, that feels meh for me.
Verdict: Goes
The Scene (Dylan Hart #1) by R.M. Gilmore — Not to be punny, but this book doesn’t feel like my scene.
Verdict: Goes
Deadly Cool (Deadly Cool #1) by Gemma Halliday — Could be fun…but I just have too many other books I’m more excited about.
Verdict: Goes
Breathless (The Blue Fire Saga #1) by Scott Prussing — I remember this cover. But the blurb doesn’t necessarily grab me, especially for such a long series.
Verdict: Goes
ExtraNormal (ExtraNormal #1) by Suze Reese — Now released as ExtraNormal Academy by Suzanne V. Reese. The concept sounds kind of fun, but the blurb writing just wasn’t doing it for me (not even the new blurb).
Verdict: Goes
The Changelings (War of the Fae #1) by Elle Casey — The length of the series is daunting, but I remember this book being recommended by a friend, and the blurb still sounds fun, so it stays for now..
Verdict: Stays
Breath of Air (Dryad Quartet #1) by Katie Jennings — I don’t know, this could be a mistake, but I’m intrigued! So it stays for now.
Verdict: Stays
Phantom Universe (Summer Chronicles #1) by Laura Kreitzer — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Smart Mouth Waitress (Life in Saltwater City #2) by Dalya Moon — Honestly? I didn’t even read the blurb. It’s no longer available in ebook, nor are any of this author’s books. And it’s supposedly #2 in a series…which might be fine, but meh.
Verdict: Goes
Everywhere But No Place (Messages From The Unseen World #1) by Mark Foster — Man, I couldn’t even get through the blurb before checking out…not for me.
I’ve started to delete books in my TBR on GR yesterday, SO MANY BOOKS!!!! But it feels good, as you said, there are so many that we don’t even remember adding đŸ™ˆ
