Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1909 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Nolander (Emanations #1) by Becca Mills — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
True of Blood (Witch Fairy #1) by Bonnie Lamer — Sounds unique, but I’m not interested enough.
Verdict: Goes
Incendiary (Premonition #4) by Amy A. Bartol — I should give up on this series, but I know I won’t from sheer curiosity. But I think I might try the audiobooks whenever I finally get back to finishing it.
Verdict: Stays
Thomas & January (Sleepless #2) by Fisher Amelie — I LOVED Callum & Harper when I first read it. I tried to read it again more recently, and the editing was atrocious for me (tense changes all over the place). I couldn’t even get past the first chapter. I doubt this one is better, and that blurb doesn’t give me confidence it is. I’m keeping Callum & Harper and might try again someday when I’m not as picky, but I see no reason to keep this one.
Verdict: Goes
Night is Darkest (Men in Blue #1) by Jayne Rylon — Honestly? I feel like I’ve read this. Regardless, I enjoy Ms. Rylon’s Menage romances, so it’s staying.
Verdict: Stays
My Soul to Keep (Rise of the Fallen #1) by Sean Hayden — I like the new cover better than this one…but the old blurb is a bit funnier if more confusing. Either way, I don’t think I’m drawn in enough, you know?
Verdict: Goes
Get a F**king Job by Kenny Dill — I honestly don’t know why I nabbed this one.
Verdict: Goes
Frost Arch (Fire Mage #1) by Kate Bloomfield — Yeah, that blurb does this book no favours…not interested.
Verdict: Goes
Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins — Well, a couple DTTH’s ago I kept book 1, so I’m definitely keeping the rest of the series for now.
Verdict: Stays
Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3) by Suzanne Collins — Ditto.
I think The Hunger Games are worth keeping.
