Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1900 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Immortal Grave (Dark Betrayal Trilogy #3) by Nichole Chase — I waffled on this one. It’s been soooo long since I read the first 2, I don’t even really remember much. But, I can’t seem to give it up yet.
Verdict: Stays
The Fairytale Keeper: Avenging the Queen by Andrea Cefalo — Eh.
Verdict: Goes
Sleeping Roses (Dead Roses #1) by RaShelle Workman — Wait, romantic suspense??? This cover is really misleading. And the blurb doesn’t pull me in regardless.
Verdict: Goes
Gateway (The Gateway Trilogy #1) by Christina Garner — Honestly, this might be okay, but I’m really trying to pare down my list…and it just doesn’t grab me enough.
Verdict: Goes
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare — I honestly don’t know what to do with this one. I probably only have it because it was so popular. And I have a lot of friends who LOVE it. But I’ve just never been that curious, I always pick something else. So keep it just in case, or get rid of it knowing I can easily get it from the library? But then what if I do love it? Ugh. Nope, I’m getting rid of it. The library will be there if I change my mind.
Verdict: Goes
Bella Notte (Bella Vampires #1) by Jesse Kimmel-Freeman — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
The Dream Slayer (The Dream Slayer #1) by Jill Cooper — Interesting concept for sure. But since there are 7 books in the series, and the Kindle editions are all pulled, I’m not going to get invested.
Verdict: Goes
Thrall (Daughters of Lilith #1) by Jennifer Quintenz — Another one that I’m kind of intrigued by, but just not enough, you know?
Verdict: Goes
Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy #1) by Kiersten White — Oh, I’m definitely still intrigued by that!
Verdict: Stays
The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns #2) by Rae Carson — Oh, I have EVERY intention of getting back to this series.
This is such a great idee, I need to join in and do it!
