Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1893 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Tab Bennett & the Inbetween (Princess of Twilight and Dawn #1) by Jes Young — Now titled The Uncovering (Underneath and Inbetween #1). Course, the new blurb ends saying it’s a trilogy, but there are only 2 books, so this one goes for sure.
Verdict: Goes
Storm (Elemental #1) by Brigid Kemmerer — OK, wow I love the new cover a whole lot more. I read a review that mentioned slut shaming (which was common until recently), and somehow I doubt that’s been updated. So even though I really had wanted to read this series, I’m gonna pass. My tolerance level is just completely different.
Verdict: Goes
Elemental (Elemental #0.5) by Brigid Kemmerer — Samesies.
Verdict: Goes
Ember (Ember #1) by Madison Daniel — Isn’t available anymore, so not even reading the blurb…
Verdict: Goes
Jailbird (The Throwaways #2) by Heather Huffman — Could be interesting, but I feel like I tried reading this one once and set it aside…and in the land of 1800+ books, I don’t need another maybe.
Verdict: Goes
A Gathering of Storms (The Ballad of Mary and Cyrus #1) by B.L. Tackett — Another one no longer available, so I’m not going to get invested.
Verdict: Goes
The Future of Our Past (The Remembrance Trilogy #1) by Kahlen Aymes — This author has been to a few author events I’ve attended in the past, so this one is constantly moved up my TBR…but inevitably I pick every book but this one to read. And that says something about my interest.
Verdict: Goes
Exiled (The Protector #1) by M.R. Merrick — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Shaken (Mind Reader #1) by Susan Hatler — Again, meh.
Verdict: Goes
Ruby Blue (Ruby Blue #1) by Julie Cassar — I don’t know, there’s a humour in that blurb that draws me in. I’ll keep for now.
Woohoo! Way to chuck them.
