Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1884 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Because of Low (Sea Breeze #2) by Abbi Glines — There are some things I really enjoy about Ms. Glines books, but inevitably there are things that rub me hella the wrong way (girl shaming, drunk driving without thinking it’s wrong, etc). And since this is one of her earlier titles, I just don’t see myself giving it a chance anymore. Maybe if I’d read it years ago, but now? Eh. I know it might be great, but I have so many other great books to read already. I’m going to get rid of the 2 other books I have in this series (While It Lasts and Just For Now).

Verdict: Goes

Prince of Wolves (The Grey Wolves #1) by Quinn Loftis — Well shit. I know this series is a fave of some of my friends, but I don’t think I can do it. The blurb was a bit meh for me, and then I saw a ton of reviews about the writing, and I just don’t have the patience. Again, a book I might have enjoyed 8 years ago, but I have too many other options now.

Verdict: Goes

Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers #1) by Tara Sivec — I think I tried to read this one. The problem is that I don’t think my sense of humour matches…I’m not super into over the top.

Verdict: Goes

Delicate (Risk the Fall #1) by Steph Campbell — I wavered on this one a lot. I know it might be fantastic, but I have a feeling I’ll keep avoiding it, so…

Verdict: Goes

Grounding Quinn (Risk the Fall #2) by Steph Campbell — This one didn’t pull me in as much as Delicate, so it was easier to let go.

Verdict: Goes

My Boyfriend Merlin (My Merlin Trilogy #1) by Priya Ardis — Wavered, but inevitably there are other books I’m more interested in.

Verdict: Goes

Poughkeepsie (Poughkeepsie Brotherhood #1) by Debra Anastasia — Just like last week, this is an author that’s been at a lot of author events I’ve attended, and inevitably I always push this book aside for something else. So I’m calling it.

Verdict: Goes

Suddenly You (Porter Siblings #2) by Sarah Mayberry — Honestly, I didn’t even read the blurb. It’s Sarah Mayberry, of course I’m keeping it.

Verdict: Stays

The Other Side of Us by Sarah Mayberry — See above.

Verdict: Stays

Fall Guy (Youngblood #1) by Liz Reinhardt — Could be okay, but that’s not enough for me.

Verdict: Goes
