Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1870 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Untouched (The Amoveo Legend #2) by Sara Humphreys — I’m kind of intrigued. But I’m also kinda wary because it’s book 2, and I don’t know if you need to read the first book to understand. And that’s enough for me to just let it go.
Verdict: Goes
Undeniable (Undeniable #1) by Madeline Sheehan — a) that warning actually pushed me away (whereas I know there are readers who will read that and be “that’s my jam!”); b) it’s an MC book, and history has shown me I do not tolerate those well…
Verdict: Goes
Playing for Keeps (Pillow Talk #3) by Kate Perry– Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Static (Static #1) by Tawny Stokes — Could be fun, but I’m not that pulled in.
Verdict: Goes
The Fox by Arlene Radasky — I really only got this because it’s a friend’s favourite book…but I have zero interest. Sorry Sheila!
Verdict: Goes
Dazzle (Delaney’s Gift #1) by Amber Garza — The series is no longer available on Kindle, so I don’t want to get invested just to not be able to finish it.
Verdict: Goes
Hyde (Hyde #1) by Lauren Stewart — I like that it’s different, but not enough apparently…
Verdict: Goes
Love Will Find a Way by Barbara Freethy — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
This Girl (Slammed #3) by Colleen Hoover — Definitely keeping. Heck, maybe this year I’ll *finally* read this one and finish the series…it could happen.
Verdict: Stays
Falling by Jolene Perry — I *think* it’s being retitled and rereleased soon: Falling for Jason (The Meyer Brothers #2). I’m not sure. I think I’m gonna let this one go. If I really want it, I can try the new version.
I think I have Undeniable sitting on my Kindle…. Or I did the same thing you did and dumped it. I can’t remember!
I loved that entire Kate Perry series when I read them. It was when I first got into romance, so I’m not sure how it would rate now. I know her more current books weren’t as good in my opinion. And thank goodness you kept This Girl. Such a great ending.
