Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1844 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Insight (Shadows #1) by Jolene Perry — No longer available, so I didn’t even read the blurb.

Verdict: Goes

Pure (Pure #1) by Julianna Baggott — OK, so for real? I was assuming I was going to ditch this just based on the cover. But the blurb is intriguing, and a few people I follow really enjoyed it. So I’m going to keep it for now.

Verdict: Stays

Chosen (Fighting Fate #1) by Paulina Ulrich — I guarantee I got this one because of the cover. The blurb is only okay, so I’ll let it go.

Verdict: Goes

Things I Can’t Forget (Hundred Oaks #3) by Miranda Kenneally — I think there are other books in this series that draw me in more than this one. I’m worried I won’t like judgey Kate, so I’ll let it go.

Verdict: Goes

Exodus (Extinction Point #2) by Paul Antony Jones — I FINALLY reread book 1 last October and still enjoyed it, so still have plans to continue on.

Verdict: Stays

Connected (Connections #1) by Kim Karr — Well, this one doesn’t appear to be on my Kindle anymore, so maybe I accidentally deleted? So it goes since it’s already gone.

Verdict: Goes

Fight or Flight (Fight or Flight #1) by Jamie Canosa — Could be good, but this is another one of those I have too many others I’ll inevitably reach for first.

Verdict: Goes

Deeper We Fall (Fall and Rise #1) by Chelsea M. Cameron — Well shit. This one makes me wary. BUT I remember getting the first 4 books, and I’ve enjoyed Ms. Cameron before. I think I want to give it a try, but I’m not holding my breath.

Verdict: Stays

Because of You (Playing with Fire #2) by T.E. Sivec — Meh. Wow, I actually apparently got a box set of the first 4 books in this series, but I’m just not that interested. It only ends up being 3 entries on Goodreads, but I’ll remove them all.

Verdict: Goes

No Recourse (June Girls #1) by Mari Carr — I enjoy this author, but that blurb does not pull me in.

Verdict: Goes

  1. I haven’t read Things I Can’t Forget either. The other one in that series I have but haven’t read yet is Racing Savannah. I’ll probably read it since I liked the others in that series. Great job once again!
