Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1804 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Killing Sarai (In the Company of Killers #1) by J.A. Redmerski — I’m not really big into dark stories, and since this is a long series, I’m going to let it go.
Verdict: Goes
Limits (Silver Strand #3) by Steph Campbell & Liz Reinhardt — As I’ve mentioned in previous Down the TBR Hole’s, I’m hoping to get back to this series…so they’re all staying for now.
Verdict: Stays
Flat-Out Matt (Flat-Out Love #1.5) by Jessica Park — Another series I want to get back to, so totally stays.
Verdict: Stays
Sapphire Universe (The Universe #1) by Devon Herrera — It could be interesting, but it’s another case of I have too many others I’m more interested in.
Verdict: Goes
Republic (America’s Future #1) by Charles Sheehan-Miles — Not really my jam.
Verdict: Goes
Nocturne by Andrea Randall & Charles Sheehan-Miles — Yeah, so apparently there’s cheating in this book, and I have an almost zero tolerance for that.
Verdict: Goes
Claimed (Brides of the Kindred #1) by Evangeline Anderson — I feel like I read this one, but now I can’t remember. I honestly can’t decide whether to keep or not. Strange sci-fi erotica can be fun. You know what? I’ll keep it for now.
Verdict: Stays
This Love (University of Branton #1) by Nazarea Andrews — I’m just not feeling it enough.
Verdict: Goes
Masquerade (Games #3) by Nyrae Dawn — Another series I’ve been wanting to finish forever, so definitely staying.
Verdict: Stays
Good Vibrations (Welcome to Paradise #1) by S.L. Scott — I think now titled Falling for the Playboy (Playboy in Paradise #1). OK, this is going to sound ridiculous, but as I’ve said before, it drives me insane when author’s change the titles of books and don’t make a note of what the previous title is (or keep them together on Goodreads). And honestly, I’m not sure I’m drawn in, so away it goes.
I just read Killing Sarai this year…and then proceeded to binge the whole series. It is very dark, but so good! The twists and turns! I would highly recommend it, but if you don’t like dark then I can see why you would dump it. I’m glad you’re keeping Flat-Out Matt.
Yeah, your review had me almost changing my mind, but I have to accept I’m not much of a dark girl.
Hey, I get that!
