Blurb:A sexy category romance by Entangled’s Brazen imprint…
How far can one favor go…
Logan McCade arrives at his best friend’s wedding overworked and in desperate need of a vacation, only to discover his best man duties have been…expanded. He must coax Colton’s sister out of her shell, or risk her hiding in her room all week. Logan figures he can handle one introverted bridesmaid, but he’s not expecting how much he enjoys “handling” Sophie…or how much she enjoys being handled.
Socializing has never been web designer Sophie Brooks’s strong suit, but she’s determined to shed her wallflower image and embrace the “New Sophie”—a feat made easier with the supremely sexy Logan McCade tempting her to explore all her forbidden fantasies. If she’s not careful, she just might fall for the best man.
Sophie’s sweet, sexy, and delectably awkward demeanor brings much-needed calm to Logan’s hectic life. With the nuptials only days away, Logan is forced to face the possibility that his favor to a friend might have become something else entirely…and that he’s not willing to let Sophie go. Ever.
3.5 stars — So, like, this is a book that I bet 2016 Lenore (when I bought it) would have enjoyed so much more than 2021 Lenore.
I’m a sucker for the shy, awkward, low self esteem heroine. Or, at least I was. I still am to some extent, but certain things tweak me now, and I can’t unnotice them. In this case it was some subtle body stuff — you know, how Sophie had to lose weight in order to feel desirable. That actually wasn’t too bad…it was realistic for how society behaves. So I got it to an extent, but it still prevented me from falling completely in love with the book, because it was brought up in little subtle ways that I wasn’t a fan of.
And while I love the insecure heroine, Sophie took it to an extreme. There was some fire underneath, but her insecurities were hard to read about over and over. I got where it stemmed from, and I don’t blame her, but I guess I wasn’t in the mood for this much of it. The funny thing is, it was the things that stemmed from her insecurities that really drove me batty. She was jealous, and then kind of mean about it. She jumped to conclusions over Logan time and time again, even though his actions showed who he really was. And she wasn’t that nice to Reagan either.
Logan was actually pretty great. It was hard watching him take forever to figure out his work stuff, but he got there. And he balanced opening Sophie’s eyes with not taking too much of her insecurities.
The steamy scenes were pretty solid, some better than others obviously.
So yeah. I don’t think I’m an Entangled Brazen reader…I enjoy erotic romance, but maybe these are just too short? Or maybe I’ve gotten too used to alien erotic romance? *snort*
Doesn’t it kill you when you have a book for ages, read it and then discover you would have liked it better back when you bought it? I had that happen with a Mia Sheridan book recently. I can understand how that would happen to you with this one. At least you got it off your TBR and it wasn’t too bad!
