Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1733 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Feeling Death (The Death Trilogy #3) by D.T. Dyllin — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Paragon (Legacy Code #2) by Autumn Kalquist — I remember really enjoying the first book, and as per usual, wanting to get back to this series. So it’s staying, along with some other short stories and books in the universe (totaling 5 books remaining on the TBR).
Verdict: Stays
Delirium (Debt Collector #1) by Susan Kaye Quinn — Honestly? I don’t feel drawn to this. I think I got it based on a recommendation, but I think I’m okay letting it go. I also had the box set of the whole season, so I’ll let that go too (counting for 2 gone).
Verdict: Goes
(Once) Again (Again #2) by Theresa Paolo — This one is being rereleased now that she has the rights back, and the series finally finished, so I’ll let this go and get the refurbished one when it’s out.
Verdict: Goes
Revelations (Extinction Point #3) by Paul Antony Jones — I decided in an earlier DTTH that I was keeping this series, so this one and book 4 stay too.
Verdict: Stays
The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith — Oh this one definitely stays.
Verdict: Stays
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green — I watched the movie…so it goes.
Verdict: Goes
Breath, Annie, Breathe (Hundred Oaks #5) by Miranda Kenneally — Oh, definitely stays.
Verdict: Stays
The Curse Keepers (Curse Keepers #1) by Denise Grover Swank — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Seeking Havoc by Lila Felix — I assumed I was going to ditch this one…and then I discovered lots of friends loved it, so fine…it stays for now.
Great choice with Breathe, Annie, Breathe. I feel like that was one of my favorites from the Hundred Oaks series. I had wanted to read The Geography of You and Me a long time ago, so I wouldn’t mind you reviewing that one so I could find out if it was good.
ROFL, you’re assuming I get to it anytime soon! *snort*
Haha! So true!
