Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1722 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Longing for Love (Gansett Island #7) by Marie Force — I feel like this might be one I should let go of, but I have *7* unread books in this series, and I just have a hard time making the decision. I think I need to try doing a binge read, and if my interest starts waning, just get rid of the rest. But for now, this one and the rest stay (counting for 7).

Verdict: Stays

The Light Tamer (The Light Tamer #1) by Devyn Dawson — Yeah, no.

Verdict: Goes

Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack #1) by Suzanne Wright — Carla loved this book, but I’m just not that interested…so I think I’m putting it on the go pile.

Verdict: Goes

Origins: The Fire (MILA 2.0 #0.5) by Debra Driza — Could be okay, but I’m not that sucked in so this one and book 1 both go.

Verdict: Goes

Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour #4) by Olivia Cunning — Stays since I’m waiting to give the series another try…this looks like the most recent one I acquired, so the rest have already been marked as stay.

Verdict: Stays

The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave #1) by Rick Yancey — Saw the movie, enjoyed it, but not invested enough to read it and continue.

Verdict: Goes

Shiver Trilogy (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #1-3) by Maggie Stiefvater — Oh definitely keep (which counts for 4 total on my TBR, the box set and each book individually).

Verdict: Stays

Hunted (The Chosen #2) by D.G. Swank — I read the first book and was only meh, but for some reason I got the next 3 books. And I feel no desire to go back to this series, so I’m letting books 2-4 go.

Verdict: Goes

Whispers in Autumn (The Last Year #1) by Trisha Leigh — This series was recommended by some friends, but I’m just not feeling it. And since I keep passing over it, it feels like I should just let it go. This counts for 4 gone from my TBR (because I have a box set of all 4 books).

Verdict: Goes

Sugar Coated (The Sugar Coated Trilogy #1) by Shannen Crane Camp — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

  1. That Marie Force series… I read a ton of those books. When I read them, I loved them. Right up until they all started to feel like catch up books and less about the couples they were supposed to be about. I thought I had reviews for them, but I couldn’t find any on GR, so I can’t tell you where that started. So weird.

I thought Stiefvater’s Shiver series was fun!
