Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1706 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Silent Bite: A Scanguards Wedding (Scanguards #8.5) by Tina Folsom — I’m still thinking of coming back to this series, especially since the audio for some of them seem to be at Hoopla. So I’ll keep for now, as well as book 10 (because that’s the only other one I have).
Verdict: Stays
Stone Guardian (Entwined Realms #1) by Danielle Monsch — It sounds okay, but I’m not blown away…and looks like a long series.
Verdict: Goes
Undeniably Chosen (Significance #5) by Shelly Crane — Honestly, I’m a little afraid to go back to this series because I loved it so much…but I will. I know I will. So for now it, and the novella Consequence both stay.
Verdict: Stays
There (On the Otherside #2) by Denise Grover Swank — Even though I had some problems with the first book, I’ve always wanted to finally get back and read the conclusion…so it stays for now.
Verdict: Stays
This is Not a Test (This is Not a Test #1) by Courtney Summers — I…genuinely have no idea which way to go on this one. I’m intrigued. But I’ve also had it for years and never gotten to it. I keep seeing all the good reviews, but I’m not sure I’m up for an angsty YA inner thought book. I even have it on my kindle because, you know, Halloween. But I keep skipping over it. So I’m going to listen to my subconscious on this one.
Verdict: Goes
Learning to Heal (Learning #2) by R.D. Cole — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Destiny Begins (The Twin Destinies Saga #0.5) by Cheryl Davis — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
A Love for the Pages by Joy Penny — Could be cute, but as one of the rare romance readers who’s not obsessed with classics, it’s not pulling me in.
Verdict: Goes
The Summer I Fell (The Six #1) by Sonya Loveday — Eh…I put this on my list this summer, and just couldn’t drum up interest. I’m not a love triangle girl, much less whatever this would be. I guess it’s just not calling me.
Verdict: Goes
Wonderfully Wicked (The Dreamcaster Series #1) by C.J. Burright — Another book that sounds like it could have potential, but I’m not feeling like I need to read it…so it goes.
I haven’t read any of these, so no sway either way. I love that you’re continuing to whittle down your list! It brings such freedom.
