Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1695 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy C. Cherry — Can I tell the truth? I enjoy Ms. Cherry, but she can be hit or miss with me. And I keep avoiding this book for some reason, so normally I would just let it go. BUT…I got the whispersync deal with audio, and for some reason that makes it harder to let it go. So it stays for now. Maybe I’ll feel differently at some point.
Verdict: Stays
Private Dicks (Private Dicks/Sanctuary #1) by Katie Allen — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Below Unforgiven (Movie #1) by Kimberly Stedronsky — One of those books I got because the author was going to be at an event. No compulsion to read it now, especially since I smell cheating.
Verdict: Goes
The Space Between Heartbeats (Betwixt #1) by Melissa Pearl — This author is a friend, but I’m just not interested in this series…so I’m letting it go. That means 4 off my TBR (it’s complicated).
Verdict: Goes
Finding Kia (The Lost Girl #1) by Airicka Phoenix — A book I might have enjoyed back when I got it, but less intrigued now.
Verdict: Goes
When Night Fall (Regeneration #1) by Airicka Phoenix — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Hold Us Close (Keep Me Still #1.5) by Caisey Quinn — I loved the first book, but I read it so long ago and don’t feel like I needed more. So I’m going to let this go.
Verdict: Goes
Eleanor by Jason Gurley — Eh…not much to go on in the blurb, and the reviews from friends aren’t great.
Verdict: Goes
How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo — Well shit. This has a shitton of great reviews, and I’m just not that interested. In fact, the only reason I probably got it was those reviews. But I’m still not interested. And the mentions of not great characters daunts me. So I’m putting this tentatively in the “goes” pile.
Verdict: Goes
Wonder (Wonder #1) by R.J. Palacio — I know I know, everyone recommends it. I saw the movie and enjoyed it, and thus do not feel compelled to read it. *shrugs*.
People rave about Loving Mr. Daniels. I haven’t read it because I’m not a big student-teacher fan. If it’s out of high school, I can handle it. I’ll wait to hear what youj think.
You dumped How to Kill a Rockstar? 🙁 I loved that one. Her writing is SO GOOD. It’s a little messy of a story, but so worth it.
I haven’t completely deleted it yet, but I’m just worried that I won’t like the characters… I’m not as big on questionable characters. I lean more towards ooey gooey characters.
I get that. I just really love her writing.
