Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1679 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Inhale, Exhale by Sarah M. Ross — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Not Quite Dead (Lowcountry Mysteries #1) by Lyla Payne — Another meh.

Verdict: Goes

Panic (Rook and Ronin #3) by J.A. Huss — Honestly, I thought I was going to let this one go. I remember really enjoying the first book, but it’s been SO LONG I didn’t even remember I’d read book 2 too. But looking back at my reviews, I really did seem to enjoy them. And so many of my friends enjoyed the whole series, AND it’s spinoff. So I’m torn. Like, I’ve been trying to decide for a week, so I’m just keeping them (and the spin off) for now — a decision for another time. That’s 8 to stay (because of box sets and shit).

Verdict: Stays

LOL Romantic Comedy Anthology: Volume #1 by Various Authors — Meh, just not interested enough. And since I’m here, I looked at Volume #2 and I don’t feel compelled by it either, so I’m letting them both go.

Verdict: Goes

The Suit (Holly Springs #1) by B.N. Toler — I probably could have gone either way on this, so I’m erring on the side of decreasing my TBR.

Verdict: Goes

The Star Thief (The Star Thief Chronicles #1) by Jamie Grey — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Kahayatle (Apocalypsis #1) by Elle Casey — I think this was recommended to me by a friend, but I’m just not feeling it. Especially as it’s a 4 book series. So while I’m feeling a bit waffly, I’m marking it to go.

Verdict: Goes

The Good Life (The Good Life #1) by Jodie Beau — Another book I could go either way on, so erring on the side of goes.

Verdict: Goes

Arrow of the Mist (Arrow of the Mist #1) by Christina Mercer — I will wholeheartedly admit that this was a cover love purchase mostly. And I still love that cover…seriously. But I don’t think I’m compelled by the actual story — at least not enough, you know?

Verdict: Goes

Star Crossed anthology by Various Authors — This is so old, and I own half of these books already.

Verdict: Goes

  1. The only one I’ve read is that Rook & Ronan book. I enjoyed that series, but I try not to read her books now. She attacked another author for having a similar book title. I can give you more details, if you want, but she was really nasty about it. I probably wouldn’t have been so turned off by it if she hadn’t used the words she did, etc. Not nice at all.

    • Oh, I hadn’t heard about that and am mildly curious. I think I had heard little tidbits about her as a person, and I don’t buy from her anymore, but now you have me rethinking keeping this. AHHHH! 😉

    • Well shit, now I don’t know what to do. I mean, I definitely won’t be buying any more books from her, or starting any other series I have…but I can’t decide on this one. I’ll probably keep it this round and put off the decision until next time. 😛
