Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1638 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Where She Went (If I Stay #2) by Gayle Forman — I’ll have to go back and reread book 1, but I really did enjoy it, so I’m still curious how the next book is.
Verdict: Stays
A Little Too Far (A Little Too Far #1) by Lisa Desrochers — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Sugar & Spice anthology by Various Authors — I got this for maybe 3 books, 1 of which I have individually, and 1 I got rid of in an earlier DTTH. The 3rd book is part of the Beaumont series by Heidi McLaughlin, which I was only meh on the first book (and tend to be meh on her books in general). I’m not feeling any of the other books. So this one goes, as well as 2 Beaumont books on my TBR, since I’m giving up on that series.
Verdict: Goes
Dec the Holls by Jasinda Wilder — I never get to this one, I think it’s time to just let it go.
Verdict: Goes
Menage by Emma Holly — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
After the Rain (Rains #1.5) by Lisa De Jong — I already kept book 1 earlier, but that was before I started just immediately marking other books in a series as a stay.
Verdict: Stays
The Current Between Us by Kindle Alexander — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Picture This (Marsden #2) by Jayne Denker — Cover is probably what drew me in, and it’s still cute…but just not pulled in.
Verdict: Goes
Texas Pride by Kindle Alexander — This one grabs me a bit more, so it stays for now.
Verdict: Stays
Sweet Fall (Sweet Home #2) by Tillie Cole — Quite awhile ago Deanna @A Novel Glimpse convinced me to give this one a try even though I didn’t like the first book. So it still stays, as well as book 3.
I will say you don’t have to reread If I Stay…but only because I accidentally read Where She Went first and still loved it.
Seeing After the Rain makes me want to reread that series. I loved it.
I’m glad I convinced you to keep/read Sweet Fall. I did not like that first book, but I loved the rest of that series.
