Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1569 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
On Solid Ground (On Solid Ground #1) by Melissa Collins — Having just read an older M/M with a military character, I’m finding myself not in the mood…so I’mma let this one go.
Verdict: Goes
Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things (Dead Things #1) by Martina McAtee — I actually really remember wanting to read this one, but I’m not even going to read the blurb because apparently it’s not available anymore and has a cliffhanger. Bummer.
Verdict: Goes
Innuendos (It Had 2 B U #1) by V. Kelly — This author is a friend, which is why I got it…but honestly? I can’t even read the blurb, it’s not me. So this and book 2 go.
Verdict: Goes
Torch (Take It Off #1) by Cambria Hebert — This one sounds okay, but I’m not champing at the bit so I’ll let it go. Same for book 2.
Verdict: Goes
Coming Home by Various Authors — I already have Making Faces, and I did read The Vixen and the Vet (which wasn’t my fave in that series)…and I’m just not that interested in the other 3 stories, so that’s 4 gone.
Verdict: Goes
Dare (Finding Love #1) by Emma Lynn — Another book bought because I knew the author, but not really interested.
Verdict: Goes
Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller — I waffled a bit on this one, but inevitably I’m still curious enough it stays for now.
Verdict: Stays
The Truth About Kadenburg (Kadenburg Shifters #1) by T.E. Ridener — Another one of those books I got based on friend’s recs, but I’m just not that interested.
Verdict: Goes
The Complete Firstborn Trilogy (Firstborn Trilogy #1-3) by Raine Thomas — Welp, I’ll probably have to reread the Daughters of Saraquel series first, but I remember really enjoying it, so these stay (counts as 4).
Verdict: Stays
Clones: The Anthology by Various Authors — I feel like I can’t keep all the sci-fi anthologies I got way back when, and I’m not sure I’m as interested in clones, so I’ll let this one go.
You did a great job sending books off today!
