Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1530 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Wicked Winter anthology by Various Authors — I legit don’t know any of these authors, and I just don’t need another anthology in my life when I don’t even have 1 story I got it for…it was probably free.
Verdict: Goes
Coming Home to You (A Home Novel #2) by Tessa Marie — I have always intended to come back to this duology, maybe this is finally the winter I do that.
Verdict: Stays
Enchanting Wilder (The Wild #1) by Cassie Graham — I think I got this on a recommendation, and the author was going to be at an event…but I’m just not feeling compelled enough with this one.
Verdict: Goes
Anyone But Him by Cassie Graham — Yeah, not connecting with this one either.
Verdict: Goes
FriendTrip by M.E. Carter & Sara Ney — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Faults (Island Series #4) by Tudor Robins — Oh definitely keep…as well as book 0 in the series.
Verdict: Stays
All Access (Fangirl #1) by Liberty Kontranowski — Reviews sound meh, so I’mma let it go.
Verdict: Goes
The Collectors’ Society (The Collectors’ Society #1) by Heather Lyons — Oh yeah, I didn’t even reread the blurb, I already know I’m still curious about this one.
Verdict: Stays
Smut by Karina Halle — I’m still curious enough about this one.
Verdict: Stays
rock by Anyta Sunday — Yeah, I really enjoy Ms. Sunday’s M/M’s, so this definitely stays for now.
Uh how did I not know Tessa Marie had a second book in that series??? If I had it, I would keep it too. Smut is definitely worth reading. I loved that one! I would probably have kept that Ney/Carter book, but only because I probably would have read it right when I got it? I don’t know. Maybe I would have looked at reviews first. I’m waffling. Glad you got rid of so many this week.
I think I’d rather stick to Ney/Carter newer stuff. I’m really less into straight contemp, more into romance.
And yes! I haven’t read that first Tessa Marie book in a long time, but I’ve been wanting to finally finish it! Good to hear about Smut!
