My rating:
Blurb:I’ve never been romantic. Just ask my ex-wife.
Since she broke up with me, I get my needs met any time I want, without putting my heart on the line. Exactly how I like it.
But when she is called overseas and leaves me with our child, my bachelor lifestyle ends faster than you can say, “Daddy, I want a pony.”
I need help.
Problem is, help’s come in the form of an incredibly hot nanny.
My employee.
Who is much younger than me.
And also … a guy.
I watch Scott care for my kid and can’t help feeling like he clicks into place in her life.
When he looks at me, though … I get an entirely different feeling. One that makes me long for things I can’t have.
Like him.
Unmanageable is a contemporary m/m age gap romance about a starry-eyed nanny who wants hot-air balloon rides and singing telegrams and a grumpy single dad who most definitely does not.

4.5 stars — Well, that was all kinds of adorable. It helps that both Scott and Luke were eminently likeable characters that I easily fell in love with, both separately and together…most especially together.
In some ways I’m surprised with how much I liked Scott. He’s the ultimate sunshine, and at another time I might have found his flights of fancy frustrating…but I just didn’t. He was adorable, like a puppy, and I just wanted all the happiness for him. I think especially because he knew that his romantic heart could get him in trouble, so he was not unaware of the downsides of his nature…particularly his avoidance of real life problems. It was nice to see him grow, and eventually get help with some of that. And he was pretty spectacular in his role as nanny to Addison — you really got to see him shine there, and see that under all that imagination was a practical side that made sure she was safe and smart.
I was worried that the grumpy side of Luke would prevent me from liking him, but we got to see where some of that stemmed from. He wasn’t grumpy so much as damaged, and thus held himself back. He had convinced himself that life’s fancies weren’t for him, but Scott was just the guy to prove him wrong. I loved that despite his best efforts, he loved Scott for exactly who he was and aspired to be more like him. They really balanced each other perfectly in so many ways. I also appreciated that while he didn’t have a large group of friends, he had people at the right time to help point him in the right direction. And when he stepped up for Scott? SWOON.
As you can tell, I thought they were so cute together. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the steam was there too. But I just loved how they slowly crept closer to a real relationship. The epilogue was perfect.
As with so many of the books in this world, great secondary characters in this one. Addison was adorable and realistic. Kira was, strangely, a great addition (even if her part was small). And seeing Murph and Jason, and even Jeremy and Aaron (having just met them) supporting Scott was great. I loved meeting Landon and can’t wait to find out his story. And then there’s Scott’s family, particularly his Dad…ADORABLE.
So yeah, this one read fast and easy, and gave my romantic heart all the things.
Okay. You got me. I need to read this one!
