Blurb:

I’ve ruined everything.

I had a mate. Resonance. Happiness. But then T’chai’s attacked by ravenous sky-claw and almost killed. To help him recover, I tell the healer to turn off our unfulfilled resonance. It's temporary...or so I think.

Big mistake. Because now my khui acts like it’s dead and it hates T’chai. But I still love him. How do we move forward when I can’t bear his touch? Is there a way to get back our happiness together, or is it time to give up on what we once had?

T'chai has other plans, though. He's not giving up on us. If it means crossing the world, he's ready to do it at my side.

My Review:

3.5 stars — I was surprised by how much of the book took us into the past with Mari and T’Chai.  I wasn’t sad about that, I wanted to know how their relationship developed, but I guess it was probably just a scootch more than felt necessary to me.  Especially given the time jump in the present.  That’s an awful lot of time they spent unhappy, but didn’t do much about it.  I think I was expecting a larger impetus for them to be looking for a solution.

Mari was not what I expected from the previous books…and yet.  It’s so bizarre, because I think I expected more of an explanation of why she was so shy and reclusive initially…and yet, there wasn’t really one.  Which, honestly, can be reality sometimes.  She’s really a very dichotomous character — a chicken at times, but bold as can be when backed into certain corners (ie when T’Chai was hurt).

I loved seeing T’Chai’s thoughts upon first meeting Mari, and how he saw everything she did for him.

I appreciated the explanation of what happened, and how it all worked out in the end.

Basically, I really enjoyed the story, I just needed something more for it to be higher rated.

  1. I need to get back to these alien books. I still haven’t finished the first series.I wish this one had been better for you, though. I think I would have been frustrated a bit with all the looking back.
