Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1520 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Christmas Light (Christmas in New York #2) by Jolyse Barnett — Oh dear, a good reading friend DNF’d it because of heroine meanness…I’m definitely out.
Verdict: Goes
Golden Blood (Time Spirit Trilogy #1) by Melissa Pearl — I’m still curious about this one!
Verdict: Stays
The Two-Night One-Night Stand (The Two-Night One-Night Stand Series #1) by Ryan Ringbloom — I tried reading this one and got to 18% before I just couldn’t anymore. Don’t know why I didn’t DNF and review, but I’ll ditch it here instead.
Verdict: Goes
The Opposite of Ordinary (Heartbreaker Society #1) by Jessica Sorensen — This is the first of a few books that are apparently no longer available, and parts of series…so that’s an automatic goodbye from me.
Verdict: Goes
Agent I1: Tristan (The D.I.R.E. Agency #1) by Joni Hahn — Also no longer available, so also goes.
Verdict: Goes
Christmas With You (Stewart Island #4) by Tracey Alvarez — Still sounds like exactly what I might want for Christmas.
Verdict: Stays
Leo Loves Aries (Signs of Love #1) by Anyta Sunday — It was a NetGalley originally, so definitely stays…along with the sequel novella.
Verdict: Stays
My Delicate Destruction (Wolfegang #1) by Jillian Ashe — And yet another one no longer available, so it goes.
Verdict: Goes
Finding Perfect (Finding Perfect #1) by Kendra C. Highley — I enjoy this author, so this one and book 2 stay!
Verdict: Stays
Crossroads (Crossroads #1) by Riley Hart — Oh definitely keeping.
I haven’t read any of these, so I say trash them all. Hahaha! But really. That Finding Perfect cover has always called to me. I hope it’s a good read!
P.S. Love seeing you back with this post!
