My rating:
Blurb:Forty-something Defiance Dayne only recently discovered she comes from a long line of powerful witches. Added to that was the teensy, infinitesimal fact that she is what’s called a charmling. One of three on the entire planet. And there are other witches who will stop at nothing to steal her immense power, which would basically involve her unfortunate and untimely death.
No one told her life after forty would mean having to learn new lifeskills—such as how to dodge supernatural assassins while casting from a moving vehicle—or that the sexiest man alive would be living in her basement.
Whoever said life begins at forty was clearly a master of the underappreciated and oft maligned understatement.
4 stars — OK, this is going to be another terrible review because I did a terrible job writing down my thoughts…woops, sorry!
Still hilarious. The banter, the witty writing, loving it.
Dephne is a delightfully sassy and sarcastic witch.
Annette is hilarious.
Still a bit repetitive at times and feels like not a lot happens to move the plot forward, but I don’t always care that much.
Loved that we got a bit more with Roane.
Loved seeing Dephne kick some ass when she gets fired up and doesn’t get in her own way.
Loved seeing more of Percy.
COYER Community: I buddy read this book with Brandee, and she gave it 4.5 stars I think (she’s still deciding between that and 5 stars — her review coming soon). She was the one who introduced the first book to me, so it was only appropriate that we continue on with this series together! I fell terribly behind though, so we had to wait until the end to commiserate.
